Approach to Counselling
At Juniper Counselling, David works with adults (18+) and athletes who are navigating trauma, searching for a deeper understanding of self and personal meaning, and life transitions. His practice reflects Juniper's values of safe spaces, curiosity, and counselling that invites courage.
David is known for his direct and focused approach. He works passionately and with clarity, helping clients face challenges head-on while keeping them grounded in their strengths. This style is particularly effective with clients who want a counsellor who is competent, directive, and unafraid to challenge unhelpful patterns—all while maintaining a supportive, compassionate, and respectful environment. David works primarily from a Psychodynamic therapy approach, while incorporating elements of Internal Family Systems therapy and Existential therapy.

Education and Experience
Drawing on nearly two decades as a basketball coach, David has a unique ability to support high-level athletes in navigating the mental and emotional pressures of performance. He understands the identity struggles that come with sport and guides athletes in building resilience, confidence, and balance beyond competition.
David also incorporates the combination of Jungian therapy, narrative therapy, and cinema into his practice, using storytelling and film as tools to spark deep conversations about identity, resilience, and meaning. This creative lens allows clients to connect their own lived experiences to universal human stories.
